Who We Are
Our holistic approach bridges the gap between Early Intervention and school-based speech services, supporting children’s communication, connection, and confidence every step of the way.
Hi! My name is Christy Cazares, and I’m a speech-language pathologist (SLP) specializing in pediatric communication disorders. I’m a San Diego native and currently reside in the beautiful community of South Park.
I earned my Bachelor’s in Art Education from SDSU (go Aztecs!) and received certification in American Sign Language through Grossmont-Cuyamaca College. I began my career teaching Fine Art and Art History, including student teaching at Hoover High School, and continued teaching in the K–8 parochial schools. During this time, I also taught Restorative Yoga to children and adults with disabilities, emphasizing the mind-body connection.
My path eventually led me to speech-language pathology. Volunteering in child development centers and skilled nursing facilities, I shadowed SLPs and immediately fell in love with the field. After completing post-baccalaureate studies at CSU San Marcos, I earned my Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Emerson College in Boston, MA (big Bruins fan!).
Clinically, I’ve worked in pediatric clinics supporting medically complex profiles, pediatric voice and feeding disorders, rare communication disorders, Gestalt Language Processing, and Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Today, my expertise focuses on early language development, stuttering advocacy, articulation, and phonological processing disorders in the school setting.
As a mobile SLP, I proudly serve families & schools throughout San Diego County—from Bonita to Santee, and up to sunny Encinitas. Virtually, I provide telehealth support throughout the state of California.
I take a neuro-affirming, holistic approach to therapy, supporting each child’s communication in ways that honor their strengths, natural environments, and daily routines.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions to see if Speak Play Create is the right fit for your family. With gratitude,
Christina N. Cazares M.S., CCC- SLP
